The White Swan Hotel, overlooking the Pearl River and facing the White Swan Pool, is located in the historic Shamian Island where more than 10 countries set up consulates and about 40 foreign banks operated. It opened on 1983, and became the first Chinese member of Leading Hotels of the World in 1986 and the first five-star hotel in China in 1990. Designed by famous architects Bozhi Mo and Junnan She, the White Swan Hotel is built based on the essence of traditional Chinese Lingnan landscape design style. It uses pavilion, waterfall and plants as the main focus for its atrium, creating a unique Lingnan atmosphere of history and culture. It closed in 2011-2015 to completely upgrade and reconstruct its facilities. Now, the White Swan Hotel has 520 rooms, 8 restaurants (3 × Michelin one-star/recommended restaurants), a fitness center, a spa lounge and an outdoor swimming pool. Particularly, it provides several modernized and well-equipped conference venues with a total area of 2500 m2 which can hold more than 1000 attendees. Also, its location is convenient for attendees. It is only a 10-minute walk from Huangsha Subway Station (line 1 & 6) and a 45-minute drive from Guangzhou Nan Railway Station and Baiyun International Airport. It has hosted a lot of high-end conferences including Global Aquaculture summit 2016 and World Routes 2018.
